Statistical Literacy: What to do When Faced with Numbers

Skeptics in the Pub is about getting people together to have a relaxed and enjoyable evening while listening to talks on a wide range of topics, usually by a notable scientist or skeptic. This month, Jenny Freeman on the ability to understand data and evidence, becoming increasingly important in today's data-driven world. This talk discusses some elements of statistical literacy and what are the key questions to ask when presented with data and evidence. Jenny is an associate professor of Medical Statistics at the University of Leeds, and currently Vice President of the Royal Statistical Society with responsibility for the External Affairs brief.
